A Message from our Director – September 2013

As we send this newsletter, we are both thrilled and excited about all of our new offerings, and devastated by the senseless violence that occurred in one of our placement sites, Nairobi, last weekend.  All of our volunteers and the members of our partner organization in VOCAL are safe, but nearly 70 people lost their lives, and hundreds more were injured.  Our thoughts go out to Kenya and we hope and believe that the performing arts will be central to healing and reconciliation efforts in the months and years to come.  For an official statement on Nairobi’s current security situation from our site director George Ndiritu, please go here.
