A Message from our Director – March 2012
A former college professor of mine is teaching a course entitled “Theater for Social Change” this semester at my alma mater. The performing arts tare truly powerful ways for many societies to make importan changes in social justice, public health, and even politics. In many cultures, performance has a powerful and critical history of communicating important messages and relaying ideas. In Performing Arts Abroad’s volunteer programs, our participants get to experience this process firsthand. By teaching music, dance, and theater to young people in marginalized communities, they are giving them a voice and boosting their confidence and self esteem. Through an exchange of ideas and cross-cultural collaboration, we are making the world smaller and more productive. I invite you to e-mail or call me personally anytime to discuss your options! All the world’s a stage!
